Balkan road trip – Part 3
Day 4: Sveti Stefan, Lovcen National Park, Budva – one day round drive
26 December 2018, 07:47, 1071 km from Sibiu.
5°C looks like will be clear sunny day
A beautiful, clear day! We drove to Lovcen National Park. According to the navigation, it should take about 1 hour and 15 min. The higher area of the national park was covered with snow and the last 6 km of the road to the parking beneath the mountain top closed. We decided to go back using a different road passing Dubovik, on Zanjev Do P1 25 serpentine road down to Trojica. The road is narrow and the view on Kotor bay stunning.
We didn’t enter Kotor city, instead turned left and drove to Budva.
Budva is another medieval city with historic town center on an half island. We had a coffee at the beach and then visited the old town, the Holy Trinity Orthodox church and the Citadel Fortress with its old library.
The old town is not to big and can easily be walked in about one hour.
For lunch we tried the Restaurant Olimp near the bay, from the terrace we had the view on the peer, the Luka Budva bay and Sveti Nikola Island. The day’s menu offer started with fish soup, followed by pan-fried fish, mussels, fried calamary with potato and spinach. The food tasted very good, the waiter was professional and helpful. We didn’t mind the cold temperature as it was a clear sunny day and enjoyed the meal on the terrace watching the sea and harbor.
We returned to Sveti Stefan in the afternoon, walked down towards the half island and took pictures of the sunset.
